SMS Notifications with Vonage

Looking for SMS notifications? No problem. We integrate with Vonage to make SMS notifications simple. You can link your Vonage account with PingPing and you're all up and running.

If you don't recognize the name Vonage, then you might know the name Nexmo. Vonage is the new name of Nexmo.

Why do you need a Vonage account?

SMS notifications require an actual phonenumber to send a message. Because of this Vonage makes it easy to buy a phone number that you can use for yourself or you can even connect your phone number.

With Vonage you also get a lot of options for custom configurations for sending SMS.

Setting up Vonage with PingPing

First, you need a Vonage account. You can create one here: https://dashboard.nexmo.com/sign-up

In the Vonage dashboard, you will see two keys you need to copy over to PingPing. Those are the API key and the API Secret.

In your Vonage dashboard you can buy a phone number for your country. Note that you need a paid account for this. Another option is connecting your phone number, but this depends on your country and provider.

Now you have all the information to start setting up notifications in PingPing. Go to https://pingping.io/account/notification-channels to set up a new notification channel. In the form, pick the option SMS. Then you need to give it a name and fill in the following fields:

API Key - found in your Vonage dashboard

API Secret - found in your Vonage dashboard

From telephone number - the connected phone number in your Vonage dashboard

To telephone number - the receiver of the notifications, most of the time the same as from telephone number
